I live in Manhattan with my wife and son.

When I am composing, I want the form to be a step ahead of me. At the same time, I want to be fully present in the making. When I catch up to the painting, there becomes a found quality to the form. I am interested in line, and I construct substrates that allow me to blur the line between drawing and painting. I am after a practice that creates visibly handmade objects that reveal some evidence of their process.

My paintings relate to the centering quality of face-to-face-ness. They acknowledge the matter-of-fact way our faces often render feeling external and visual. Holistically, my work explores what it means to visually articulate ideas subtly.
